First Nations Housing Design Guideline - Delivery Survey

Burrundi Design Studio acknowledges and extends our deepest respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We recognise your continuing connection to land, waters, and culture, and acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and to the emerging leaders of the future. Thank you for sharing your insights and participating in this important dialogue on Queensland First Nations Housing Design Guideline.

What is this project about?

This project is about helping improve housing for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across Queensland.

Project team

First Nations design consultancy Burrundi Design Studio is working with the Queensland Department of Housing and Public Works to develop the First Nations Housing Design Guideline.

Who is this survey for?

This survey is for people who work in the delivery, management, design, research, or maintenance of First Nations housing across Queensland. This includes housing managers, planners, builders, designers, local government staff, and others involved in housing delivery.

Why are we collecting information?

We are collecting information so that the Guideline is based on real experiences, not assumptions. Your responses will help inform the First Nations Housing Design Guideline, which will guide future housing design and construction across Queensland.

What does participation involve?

If you choose to take part, you will be asked to complete an online survey with 22 questions. You can skip any question you do not want to answer. The survey should take about 15 minutes to complete. Taking part is completely voluntary and you can stop participating in the survey at any time.

What are the possible benefits of taking part?

By sharing your experience, you are helping shape guidance that may influence how First Nations housing is designed and delivered in the future. While there is no direct benefit to you, your contribution can help improve housing outcomes for communities across Queensland.

What will happen to information about me?

You may complete the survey anonymously (without a name) or pseudonymously (not your real name).  If you choose to provide contact details to receive project updates or named acknowledgement in the final guideline, these details will be collected and stored separately from your survey responses and will not be linked to your answers.

The information you provide will be used only for the purposes of developing the First Nations Housing Design Guideline for the Queensland Department of Housing and Public Works. Access to the information collected will be limited to the project team members from Burrundi Design Studio and Department of Housing and Public Works.  Information collected will be stored securely on password protected computers in Australia. De-identified information will be incorporated into an internal department report, and all survey responses will be deleted at the end of the project in December 2026.

What will happen if I decide to withdraw?

You can stop the survey at any time before submitting it. Once the survey is submitted, your responses cannot be withdrawn.

Can I hear about the results of this research?

Yes. At the end of the survey, you can choose to provide your contact details if you would like to receive project updates or be notified when the First Nations Housing Design Guideline is completed. This is optional.
